Emma’s Story
After years of poor health in my early 30s, caused by a demanding career in sports broadcasting with long hours in live TV, night shifts, disrupted eating habits, and chronic stress, I realised I needed to take my health seriously.
I was experiencing debilitating fatigue, aching joints, poor digestion, problematic skin, disrupted sleep, and unsightly weight gain around my middle, along with irritability and more. I felt prematurely old, constantly exhausted, and struggled to care for my three young children or be the wife and mother I aspired to be. Eventually, I was diagnosed with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, but I found very little support available to navigate this common yet vastly underdiagnosed condition naturally. I was determined that lifelong medication would not be my only option for managing the diagnosis.
As I changed my eating habits and addressed unhelpful lifestyle patterns, I also embarked on building a new career and immersing myself in studying whatever I could get my hands on. Gradually, I not only reclaimed my health but also found the determination to empower others to follow a similar path. Gaining a diploma in Nutrition from the College of Naturopathic Medicine was just the beginning of this journey. Further training in Functional Medicine, Nutrigenomics, and SIBO Mastery has left me feeling exceptionally well-equipped to support my clients in achieving similar results.
Life, however, threw another curveball when, after undergoing surgically induced menopause in my early 50s, I faced significant hormonal changes and challenges to my energy and well-being.
Thankfully, with my training in nutrition, I was able to implement personalised dietary strategies to support hormonal balance, weight management, improved bone and heart health, and optimised energy levels. I also conducted thorough research and chose to explore body-identical HRT, becoming well-versed in its application and the latest research on modern options.
By focusing on nutrient-dense foods, anti-inflammatory practices, and targeted supplementation, I have not only fully recovered but, now in my late 50s, I have regained the vitality I enjoyed in my 20s. This journey has deepened my understanding of the transformative power of nutrition in navigating menopause and thriving through life’s transitions.
